Bottle of Vine grew (no pun intended) from a love of plants. I propagate various plants that can thrive in water and share them with others who want a houseplant but not the concern of constant care. They make a lovely housewarming gift or hostess gift. The clear wine bottles work best to support growth and, besides being pretty, they allow you to enjoy the plant from above and below. As for the donation of profits, I do this because I can. I have always supported or volunteered at animal shelters. My pets have always been rescues. Combining my enjoyment of plants and amateur photography led to my family telling me I should sell my plants. So, as i approach retirement age the thought occurred to me to combine it all. It gives me satisfaction to help the pets at these shelters while being able to spend more time with interests I enjoy. Life is good.
This method reduces the the stress of over or under watering your houseplants. It also eliminates pests that can sometimes live in soil and venture into your house. It's a great way for you to enjoy plants without the concern if you have to be away for business or vacation.
The most popular are the Golden Pothos, Philodendron, Dieffenbachia, Arrowhead Plant, Lucky Bamboo and assorted varieties of Coleus. These offer attractive plants above the water as well as mesmerizing roots under water.
There are many others to choose from which offer a variety of results. If you like flowers; Christmas Cactus, False Shamrock, Impatiens, Geraniums.
Just a little something different; Inch Plant, African Spear, Spider Plant, Peace Lily.
Keep in mind the season. If it isn't in season and we don't have an established plant you may need to pre-order.
Not really. We have plants forming new roots to over a year in root growth. It would depend your end use of the plant what you choose. For instance, if it is for yourself and you want to begin to add to your home decor and are in no rush, take the new cuttings as they are rooting and enjoy watching them grow. Are you concerned you can't handle monitoring this plant in the beginning or want to give it as a gift, buy one that is well established.
We can. It's best to contact us with your preferences. I only use glass though. I'd be open to any bottling companies or wineries who would like me to use theirs which have their logo or label.
We can. Again, it's best to contact us with your preferences. In these cases, it depends on your base and plant choices. It is important to manage your expectations based on the time frame you are working within. The more time the more established the plant.
Well, since I have no public location, I would consider delivery services to our customers within a 10-mile radius of our growing location in zip code 11934. It would depend on the purchase. Additional charges may apply based on the distance.
We are looking into the best places for upcoming events. If you have any suggestions, please share in the contact section or email us at vineseller@bottleofvine.com
Since my proceeds will benefit pet shelters, any local events of that nature is considered first.
Easy, you can take a cutting and create a new plant or you could transplant it into a permanent pot with soil in the traditional way.
There are a variety of rescue groups I have supported for many years. Some on Long Island others in various parts of the US.
As my sales develop and grow and I'll be able to donate the profits, I would like for these groups to list Bottle of Vine as a donor on their site to promote more sales/donations and I am working at that. I’m certain once I can begin to provide donations and develop credibility of my intention, they will have confidence listing me on their sites. As they list me I will provide their organization information in a new section of this website.
Well, mostly they are from entertaining. My friend and I enjoy the same wine choices and we began saving the bottles because they were pretty. The most popular bottles came with a lovely glass stopper which made them perfect for reusing for serving water to company at home. At some point I rooted a cutting in one because the bottom was very heavy - like crystal - and it stabilized the bottle. The rest is history. As time went by I enjoyed using unusual glass container and jars. I do think this would be a fantastic addition for local Long Island wineries to place around their tasting rooms utilizing their empty bottles.
